„Az átiratok annyiban új alkotások, hasonlóan az irodalmi műfordításokhoz–, amennyiben egy zongorista társalkotóvá lép elő például egy Beethoven-szonáta előadásakor.” (Kocsis Zoltán)

From Romantic song to Romantic musical drama

"Transcriptions are new works, similarly to literary translations, in that a pianist becomes a co-creator in, for example, the performance of a Beethoven sonata." (Zoltán Kocsis) In the first half of the concert, Schubert's songs with piano accompaniment will be performed according to the orchestral instrumentation of Brahms, Webern, Berlioz and Reger.  The intermission will be followed by the Ring-symphony by world famous conductor-composer Lorin Maazel (1930-2014), in which the key musical and narrative elements of Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen opera series are condensed into a symphony. The career of German lyric tenor Christoph Prégardien (b. 1956) is as closely tied to the operas of Mozart as to the songs of Schubert. Besides his career as a vocalist, he has been a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Köln since 2004.  American conductor and pianist Dennis Russell Davies (b. 1944) has directed the Brno Philharmonic since 2018. As a lover of jazz, he also enjoys performing with American pianist Keith Jarrett and Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek.
