Even before the 19th and 20th centuries and the eras of Smetana and Dvořák, Janáček and Martinů, the Czech nation made a significant contribution to the story of European music. Many outstanding composers of the Viennese Classics era moved from Bohemia to the capital of the Habsburg Empire (such as Florian Leopold Gassmann, Josef Mysliveček and Johann Baptist Vanhal), while Czech wind instrument players were also renowned throughout Europe. This concert will feature a Mozart masterpiece related to Prague and a symphony from an outstanding Czech composer, either side of a trumpet concerto.
As in previous years, the 2025/2026 Ferencsik season ticket is aimed primarily at lovers of the Viennese classics. Once again it, offers a wealth of enriching experiences. From Joseph Haydn, we will hear the Symphony No. 87 in A major, the Notturno No. 5 in C major, the “Clock” symphony and the Violin Concerto No. 4 in G major.
The guest appearance of the world-famous American maestro Lawrence Foster, who represents the senior age group of the international community of composers, promises to be among the outstanding events of the season. The musician with Romanian parents has conducted the Hungarian National Philharmonic on several occasions and each visit has attracted an enthusiastic response.
