Thanks to Müpa Budapest’s New Year’s concerts, Joseph Haydn’s late oratorio The Creation is regularly performed in the concert halls of Budapest. The work places man in the context of the universe as a whole. It is even more important that from time to time we also have the pleasure of hearing Hadyn’s other great oratorio, The Seasons, which presents the relationship between man and nature with a similar serenity and thrilling confidence. The concert provides an opportunity for a unique encounter, as instead of working alongside its ‘mother orchestra’, on this occasion the Hungarian National Choir will perform in tandem with the Savaria Symphony Orchestra from Szombathely.
Mozart’s Kyrie in D minor is a rarity, as is the incidental music to Thamos, King in Egypt, from which the Hungarian National Philharmonic will perform the instrumental suite on the fourth evening of its Kocsis season ticket.
The guest appearance of the world-famous American maestro Lawrence Foster, who represents the senior age group of the international community of composers, promises to be among the outstanding events of the season. The musician with Romanian parents has conducted the Hungarian National Philharmonic on several occasions and each visit has attracted an enthusiastic response.
It is an important objective of the Hungarian National Philharmonic’s Opera season ticket to interpret not only popular hits of the genre, but also to present the audience with a rare and valuable work worth discovering from time to time.
